Roche aux pieds

Savoie, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes

The Roche aux Pieds, also called the Pierre aux Pieds, is an archaeological site on the Pisselerand plateau, in the Haute-Maurienne, not far from the Col du Mont-Cenis. An imposing block of schist bears there about fifty cup-marks as well as some thirty engraved footprints of human feet, witnesses of ancient occupation of these high alpine pastures. The site is reached by a path that crosses a vast cirque overlooking the valley and the villages of Lanslebourg and Lanslevillard. The panorama also takes in the Col du Mont-Cenis and the Pointe de Ronce.
