Parc National des Cévennes
The Cévennes National Park is the only inhabited park among the seven French national parks. It covers 950 km² on which nearly 600 farmers live.
The park ensures the protection of the natural environment, fauna and flora, in a scientific manner. Because of the extreme variety of natural environments, the fauna there is very rich.
The Park involves farmers in managing the environment, maintaining paths, bancels (terraces) and firebreaks, nurseries, etc.
It also acts in favour of tourism and conservation of the genetic heritage of certain animal breeds and fruit species.
