Univerland Le Bugue (ex-Parc Aquarium du Périgord Noir)

Dordogne, Nouvelle-Aquitaine

The Périgord Noir Aquarium is at Le Bugue, in the Dordogne, next to the Bournat park. Opened to the public on 11 July 1989, it presents itself as the largest private freshwater aquarium in France, with more than 6,000 fish. The route runs along large glass bays behind which the fish of our rivers swim, such as pike, catfish and sturgeon.

The halls are devoted to freshwater environments, the world of sturgeons, tropical waters and the carp garden. In 2009, the site was enriched by the Iguana Parc, which gathers more than 40 reptile species, notably a six-metre anaconda that arrived in 2011, a pair of spectacled caimans in 2012 and, since 2014, the Alligator Park, which evokes a Louisiana bayou. The whole also includes a mini-golf, a prehistoric maze and an aerial course called Big Bird. The group's sites welcomed 230,800 visitors in 2022.
