Le village de Bournat
Le Bournat is an ecomuseum at Le Bugue, in the Dordogne, in the Périgord Noir. Created in 1992 by Paul-Jean Souriau, it recreates a late nineteenth-century village over about eight hectares on the banks of the Vézère. His descendants continue his work today.
You discover typical buildings such as the school, chapel, wash house and post office, and about twenty craftsmen at work: blacksmith, potter, cutler, weaver, lacemaker, soap-maker, walnut-oil mill and bread oven. The village farm is home to many animals. An old-fashioned funfair with merry-go-round, big wheel and barrel organ completes the visit.
Events punctuate the weekends and evening openings are held in summer. The park is aimed at families and those curious about rural heritage.
