Noyers
Encircled by a loop of the Serein, ringed with ramparts and towers, Noyers offers the visitor pleasant cobbled streets, small squares, a fifteenth-century church and attractive houses.
The visit can be done in any order, as the visitor fancies: everything is pretty, everything is flowered. It is good to stroll along the lanes with charming names like Rue de la Petite Étape aux Vins, to discover a fine sample of Burgundian houses: a superb fifteenth-century half-timbered dwelling, the Renaissance Maison de la Toison d'Or, stone houses with carved lintels or very simple winegrowers' houses. You must admire the seventeenth-century town hall with its carved pillars and pretty wrought-iron balconies, and on the square, the delightful fourteenth- and fifteenth-century houses. Finally, do not forget the church of Notre-Dame built in the fifteenth century with its square tower with gargoyles.
