Musée des beaux-arts de Nancy

Meurthe-et-Moselle, Grand Est

The Nancy Fine Arts Museum occupies one of the eighteenth-century pavilions of Place Stanislas, an architectural ensemble designed by Emmanuel Héré, architect to King Stanislas. The building has grown over time with a wing of 1936 and a contemporary extension, made in 1999 by the architect Laurent Beaudouin.

The painting collections cover roughly the 14th to the 21st century and include works by Perugino, Caravaggio, Rubens, Delacroix, Manet, Monet, Modigliani or Picasso. The museum also keeps a rich graphic collection, notably 787 engravings by Jacques Callot, a native of Nancy, and 1,438 drawings by Grandville. Sculpture is represented by artists such as Rodin, Zadkine, Duchamp-Villon or César.

A remarkable set of Daum glassware, from the town where Art Nouveau blossomed with the École de Nancy, is presented in the town's medieval foundations, in the basement. A room is also devoted to the constructor Jean Prouvé.
