Site mégalithique de Locmariaquer
The megalithic site of Locmariaquer, in the Morbihan, gathers some of the most impressive Neolithic monuments in Brittany, facing the gulf. The Grand Menhir Brisé, now lying in several pieces, exceeded twenty metres in height and weighed several hundred tonnes, making it the largest known menhir. The Table des Marchand is a passage dolmen decorated with engravings, and the Er Grah tumulus completes the ensemble.
The visit, which lasts about an hour, lets you understand the techniques of transporting and raising monoliths, and imagine the meaning of these monuments for societies of the fifth and fourth millennia BC. The site combines with the Carnac alignments, nearby.
