Le Viaduc de Millau

Aveyron, Occitanie

A world record for height, peaking at 343 metres (taller than the Eiffel Tower), 2,460 metres long, the Viaduct brushes the Tarn valley at only 9 points.

Designed by the French engineer Michel Virlogeux and drawn by the English architect Lord Norman Foster, it fits perfectly into a grandiose and intact natural landscape: a very finely drawn steel deck describing a slight curve, supported by stays, gives it the look of a sailing boat, all resting on 7 very slender piers.
