La Cascade des Baumes à Saint-Rome-de-Tarn

Aveyron, Occitanie

The Baumes waterfall is at Saint-Rome-de-Tarn, in the Aveyron, about twenty kilometres west of Millau, in the Tarn valley, near the Raspes du Tarn. The Lévezac stream throws itself from the top of a tufa cliff into the green waters of the Tarn. The height is given as 18 metres by the tourist listing, other sources speaking of 25 metres.

The site is known for having served as the setting for a scene of the film Fanfan la Tulipe.

The waterfall is visible from the D73 road, towards Le Viala-du-Tarn, about five hundred metres after the bridge. You also discover it from the river: canoe, pedalo and paddleboard rentals are offered at Le Viala-du-Tarn and at the Saint-Rome-Plage base, starting point for sailing towards the Raspes du Tarn.
