Caves de Roquefort Société
The Roquefort Société caves are at Roquefort-sur-Soulzon, in the Aveyron, on Avenue François-Galtier. They are natural caves where PDO Roquefort is still aged, on a working production site that receives more than 100,000 visitors a year.
The guided visit lasts about an hour. It begins with a digital presentation on the origins of the caves and a film, then continues with a light show in the Reynès cave and a descent through the different levels of natural caves. It lets you understand how Roquefort was born, its making and ageing. It ends with a tasting.
Longer visits are also offered on specific dates: a two-hour visit with a master cheesemaker and the tasting of three PDO Roqueforts, limited to twelve people, as well as a family formula. Visits are offered in several languages, including French and English.
The place is aimed at cheese lovers, families and anyone interested in the traditional know-how of the Aveyron.
