Musée Soulages

Aveyron, Occitanie

The Musée Soulages in Rodez, in the Aveyron, houses the gift made by Pierre and Colette Soulages to the Grand Rodez urban community in 2005, one of the largest ever made by a living artist, with nearly 500 works and documents.

The works reflect the many techniques and media used by the artist: paper, canvas, glass, bronze and copper, prints (etchings, lithographs, screenprints), preparatory work for the stained glass of Conques, paintings on canvas and paper (a unique group including gouaches, inks and walnut stain works), documentation, books, photographs, films and letters. In 2012 a further gift added 14 paintings on canvas from 1946 to 1948 and the 1960s, and a precious 'Outrenoir' polyptych of 1986.
