Lac de l'Oriente
The Lac de l'Oriente, lavu di l'Uriente in Corsican, is a mountain lake in the Haute-Corse, in the commune of Corte, north of Monte Rotondo. It lies in the heart of the Monte Rotondo nature reserve, one of the finest high-mountain areas on the island, among granite scree, high grassland and ridges overlooking the valley.
It is reached by a mountain hike of several hours, for fit walkers only, through landscapes of rock, pozzines and torrents. Take good shoes, water and warm clothing and check the weather before setting off, as conditions change quickly at altitude. The nature reserve regulations must be respected.
