Gorges de la Restonica
The Restonica river rises at 1,711 m altitude in the Rotondo massif, not far from Corte, in Haute-Corse. Over its 14 kilometres' course, it shapes deep gorges cut in granite, before joining the Tavignano at about 400 m altitude. The road that goes up the valley serves several pools and natural basins appreciated for swimming, as well as the starting points of the paths leading to the glacial lakes of Melo and Capitello. Classified for the beauty of their landscapes, the Restonica gorges are among the most visited natural sites on the island, which led to the introduction of a shuttle in high season to limit car traffic.
