La Cascade de l’Ucelluline
The Ucelluline waterfall, whose name means 'little bird' in Corsican, is in Haute-Corse, beside the corniche road along the eastern plain, between Santa-Maria-Poggio and San-Nicolao. It is fed by the Bucatoggio, a small coastal river rising in the Monte San Petrone massif.
A staircase leads down to the pool, a popular swimming spot. A family hike starts from a paying car park, crosses a Genoese bridge and fords the stream several times on laid-out crossings. Another fall, the Bucatoggio waterfall, lies below.
Access calls for care, as the steps and rocks can be slippery.
