La cascade du cirque d'Autoire
The Autoire waterfall falls about thirty metres from the top of the cliffs of a rocky cirque, a reculée with slopes covered in dense vegetation, in the north-east of the Lot, near Saint-Céré. The cirque has been listed as a Sensitive Natural Area since the end of 2009 and is part of a natural area of ecological, faunal and floral interest covering the waterfall and the Autoire gorges.
Development work inaugurated in 2014 reorganised access: the upper part of the site is pedestrian, and vehicles park at the hamlet of Siran. The village of Autoire, very close, is listed among the most beautiful villages in France. You can see notably the Romanesque church of Saint-Pierre, of the eleventh century, the ruins of the Château des Anglais, of the eleventh and twelfth centuries, and several manors and old houses, including the Château de Limargue and the Château de Busqueilles.
