Grotte de Thouzon

Vaucluse, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur

The Thouzon cave, also called the Fairies' cave, is in the commune of Le Thor, in the Vaucluse, at the foot of the hill of the same name. It is overlooked by the château de Thouzon. Discovered on 23 January 1902, it is the only natural cavern developed for tourism in the Vaucluse département.

It lies in the heart of the Sorgues country. Inside, the visit lets you admire the concretions that nature made at a time when water flooded the cave's galleries. The temperature is cool and constant, making it a pleasant outing on hot days. It combines well with a visit to L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue and Fontaine-de-Vaucluse.
