Coaraze

Alpes-Maritimes, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur

Amid olive trees, the cobbled lanes of Coaraze lead to the thirteenth-century church, adorned in the seventeenth century, under Italian Baroque influence, with 118 cherubs in a polychrome setting. The Blue Chapel, decorated with frescoes by Ponce de Léon, is an oratory dedicated to the Virgin. The chapel of Saint-Sébastien, decorated with sixteenth-century frescoes, borders the old mule track that linked the town to Nice. You can also admire in the village a garden square adorned with two fountains.

Everywhere, exuberant vegetation enlivens the simple beauty of the walls and various places in the village, the view over all the surroundings is splendid: olive trees and mimosas cover the hills. Moreover, the village, restored with intelligence and authenticity, welcomes many artists.
