Lucéram

Alpes-Maritimes, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur

A fortified village perched on a rocky spur above the Paillon valley, 27 km north of Nice, Lucéram is one of the best-preserved medieval towns in the Alpes-Maritimes, with its ramparts, tower, vaulted passages, pointed windows, stairways, fountains and wash houses. Enriched by its position as a former stop on the salt route, the village of three bell towers has an exceptional heritage of religious art: the church of Sainte-Marguerite d'Antioche holds fifteenth-century altarpieces and a treasury of goldsmith's work.
