Cité de l'écrit
The Cité de l'Écrit et des Métiers du Livre is in Montmorillon, in the Vienne. It occupies the medieval Brouard quarter, on the banks of the Gartempe, where bookshops, second-hand booksellers and book-related craft workshops have gathered.
Visitors stroll freely between antiquarian and second-hand bookshops, workshops for bookbinding, calligraphy and illumination, and exhibition spaces. Courses, workshops and events on the written word are held all year round.
The site also hosts events such as the Montmorillon book festival, held in June 2026, and the contemporary circus festival Les Voltiges Poitevines, in the historic centre. The Cité appeals to keen readers, art lovers, hunters of rare books and families looking for an original outing.
