Château de La Lande
The Château de La Lande, in the Vienne, is a 16th-century fortified house transformed into a neo-Gothic château in the 19th century. In the 16th century it consisted of a rectangular house set against a large square tower on one side and a round tower housing the spiral staircase on the other.
The restoration of 1875 kept the two towers and the machicolated dovecote. The château has a fine park of about thirty hectares with some very old oaks and chestnuts. It is a historic site of the Resistance, and guided tours are offered.
