Château d'Angles-sur-l'Anglin
Built on top of a sheer cliff, the imposing castle that rises 48 m above the Anglin valley bears witness to an eventful history of violent assaults. In the 11th century Hugues de Lusignan and his son Hugues le Brun built this fortress, which, remodelled in the 12th century, was considered one of the main strongholds of Poitou and Touraine during the Hundred Years' War.
Angles-sur-l'Anglin is a commune in the Vienne listed among the Most Beautiful Villages of France. It occupies a strategic site on the banks of the Anglin, inhabited since prehistoric times, as shown by the Roc-aux-Sorciers, a rock shelter decorated with carvings.
