Château du Duc d'Antin

Loiret, Centre-Val de Loire

The Château du Duc d'Antin, in the Loiret, dates from the 13th, 14th and 18th centuries. Home of the Duke of Antin, son of the Marquise de Montespan, the famous mistress of Louis XIV, this fine brick and stone building, with its keep ringed by elegant turrets, welcomed the whole of Enlightenment Europe, starting with Voltaire.

The Pavillon de la Salamandre houses the town hall. The exterior can be visited freely and at no charge. Not to be missed: the rose gardens.
