Château de Saint-Brisson
The Château de Saint-Brisson-sur-Loire, in the Loiret, was originally a medieval fortress, turned into a country residence in the 16th century and lived in until 1987. It overlooks the Loire valley between Gien and Briare, with fine views of the river from its towers.
The visit covers some fifteen furnished rooms, from the kitchen to the roof timbers, and recreates the setting of a characterful seigneurial home. Visitors can also follow an investigation trail or a large escape game in the château. Every summer, demonstrations of medieval siege engines are held on the estate, and dramatised tours take place during the Heritage Days. Access is on request and by time slot depending on the period.
