Château de La Bussière

Loiret, Centre-Val de Loire

The Château de La Bussière, nicknamed the Château des Pêcheurs (Anglers' Château), is a brick residence standing alone on a lake of about six hectares, in the middle of a large park whose design is attributed to Le Nôtre. It is at La Bussière, in the east of the Loiret, not far from Gien and the Loire.

The nickname comes from its collection of objects linked to freshwater fishing. A tourist listing mentions ten furnished rooms, gardens, boat trips on the lake and events throughout the year, such as Christmas at the château.

A 2022 regional brochure, however, states that the house has passed to a couple of architects who have set up a digital art centre there. Current visiting arrangements are therefore not confirmed: check with the local tourist office before going.
