Château de Saint-Julien-d'Arpaon

Lozère, Occitanie

The castle of Saint-Julien-d'Arpaon is in the Lozère, in the commune of the same name, on the banks of the Mimente, near Florac. The village is recorded in the 13th century as a possession of the lords of Anduze, who held the barony of Florac in the Gévaudan. In 1266 the Bishop of Mende, Odilon de Mercœur, bought it.

In 1618, when it belonged to the Gabriac family, the castle was dismantled. In the 18th century it passed by inheritance to the Montcalm family, who restored it. It is now in ruins. No reliable source states its current ownership or access conditions.
