Château de Grizac
The Château de Grizac, in the Lozère, is said to have been built by Guillaume de Grimoard, whose status as a peasant knight allowed him to build it. A few years later his son, also called Guillaume, the future Pope Urban V, was born here in 1310.
On 21 December 1984 the keep and the residence, the surviving parts of the castle, were listed as historic monuments, and the outbuildings and farm buildings were registered. The château lies below the village of the same name, in the commune of Pont-de-Montvert-Sud-Mont-Lozère. It is private property and hosts an exhibition all year round devoted to Blessed Pope Urban V.
