Château de Ravel
The château de Ravel is a former twelfth-century royal fortress, in the Puy-de-Dôme, in Auvergne. Redeveloped in the eighteenth century without destroying the old building, it is surrounded by a garden designed by André Le Nôtre. It is still inhabited by the descendants of the Riberolles family, having belonged to several great families, including the d'Amboise, La Rochefoucauld and d'Estaing.
The château served as a setting for the film The Chorus (Les Choristes), shot in summer 2003. In June 2016, a fire destroyed about 400 m² of the building, but the owners indicated that none of the fundamental decor was lost. The visit lets you discover a historic estate and its park, about thirty kilometres from Clermont-Ferrand.
