Château de Parentignat
The Château de Parentignat is at Parentignat, near Issoire, in the Puy-de-Dôme. It was built between 1707 and 1720 on the foundations of an old fortified house, on the initiative of François de Lastic, and still belongs to the same family.
The interior houses one of the most important private collections of 17th- and 18th-century French paintings, as well as objets d'art. Tours are guided, and visits of the private apartments with the owner are offered on certain occasions. In the orangery, an exhibition presents the Lastic family's horse-drawn carriages, and a downloadable smartphone audio guide describes the rooms and objects. The château takes part in the European Heritage Days and is on the Route des châteaux d'Auvergne.
