Château de Quintin
One of the nine baronies of Brittany, the lordship of Quintin was born in the thirteenth century from the division of the County of Penthièvre. Seat of feudal power, the château de Quintin suffered a succession of wars in the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries. Of the medieval town only the walls and the Porte-Neuve remain, partly formed by the old Archives Tower of the castle. One of the last Protestant strongholds in the seventeenth century, the château rebuilt in the mid-seventeenth century remained unfinished. In the eighteenth century its outbuildings and stables were rearranged and enlarged to form the present château de Quintin.
