Château de la Roche-Jagu
The Château de la Roche-Jagu, in the Côtes-d'Armor, dates from 1405. It was rebuilt by the Lady of Croguindy on the ruins of the fortress that had protected the Trieux since the 11th century and was destroyed in the 14th century during the War of the Breton Succession.
The château itself, crowned by 19 Flamboyant Gothic chimneys, is impressive. It consists of a single building on four levels, including an attic. Gothic in inspiration, it shows a growing concern for comfort at the expense of defence in 15th-century building. Around it, the département, which bought it in 1952, has created a magnificent park that runs down to the river estuary.
