Château de Montdardier
The château de Montdardier is in the commune of Montdardier in the Gard. The fortress built in the twelfth century was several times demolished then restored in 1860 by Viollet-le-Duc. The château de Montdardier has thus found itself on several occasions in a border zone: between Causse and Cévennes, between English and French lands during the Hundred Years' War, between Protestantism and Catholicism during the wars of religion, between Republican and Royalist zones in the nineteenth century or between industrial groups and agricultural environment in the twentieth century.
