Château de Larringes

Haute-Savoie, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes

The castle was built in the tenth century on Roman ruins.

Its Roman-origin name, Ladrinum, bears witness to a rich historical past linked to its fortress built in the tenth century on Roman ruins. The location chosen for its construction was no accident, a veritable strategic point through the extraordinary view it offered from the Swiss Alps to Fort l'Écluse at the end of the Jura chain, and from there to Mont Blanc. It has had several owners, from the Counts of Allinges, to the Counts of Savoy then the Lavanchy, Détraz, De Franlieu families and finally the present owners, the De Stoutz family. The restoration works on the château undertaken by Mr W. De Stoutz made it possible to fit out the château as a residence as well as a part as offices.
