Château de Bonneville
The château de Bonneville, in Haute-Savoie, was built on a rocky hill by Peter II of Savoy in the thirteenth century. It is one of the rare Savoyard castles not in ruins. It was turned into a prison in the eighteenth century and used as such until 1934. Today, it belongs to the town.
So that this important heritage can be preserved, the commune carries out restoration works and organises visits and events there. It overlooks the town of Bonneville and the Arve valley. The visit lets you discover medieval Savoyard architecture and its prison history.
