Château de Menthon-Saint-Bernard
The château de Menthon-Saint-Bernard is an old tenth-century fortified house, remodelled several times and restored in the nineteenth century in neo-Gothic style. It stands in the commune of Menthon-Saint-Bernard, in Haute-Savoie, above Lake Annecy. The present castle is the result of a long history that runs from the twelfth century to the First World War: it is the collective work of a family, each contributing his stone according to the spirit of the time and his taste.
In the eighteenth century, the building had kept a very austere look. The castle is visited from May to September, on guided tours. It offers a superb view over Lake Annecy.
