Château de la Rochepot
The Château de la Rochepot, in the Côte-d'Or, is one of those châteaux worth seeing: although much of it does not date from the 13th century, it remains a typical example of medieval architecture.
The first traces of the present castle go back to the 13th century, when it was built by the lords of La Roche-Nolay. Another castle a little higher up may date back to the 11th century, built under Alexander of Burgundy on the site of a Roman fort. Traces of the Neolithic period survive in the surrounding area.
