Abbaye de Cîteaux

The Abbey of Cîteaux, in the Côte-d'Or, is famous for its farmhouse cheese, known as Fromage de Cîteaux. This fruity cow's-milk cheese, with a taste of the pastures, can be bought directly at the abbey shop, where the Cistercian monks carry on the cheese-making tradition of the region.

The abbey also offers guided tours of the historic part of the monastery, open seasonally.
