Château de La Bâtie-Seyssel

Savoie, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes

The château de La Bâtie-Seyssel has been partially listed on the historic monuments inventory since 1954. Built in the Middle Ages (thirteenth century then restored in the fifteenth), this feudal fortress was long the property of the family of the Barons of Seyssel then of Aix then since 1 January 1670 the château was acquired by François d'Oncieu, President of the Chambre des Comptes, son of a first President of the Senate of Savoy, commander-general of the duchy. The d'Oncieu family, established in Savoy since the beginning of the seventeenth century, obtained the erection of La Bâtie into a marquisate on 25 March 1699, a title kept since that date.
