Château de Jonquières

Hérault, Occitanie

Owned by the Saint-Jean family, then by the Vissec de Latude family, the Château de Jonquières in the Hérault was remodelled in the 17th century, as its Renaissance-style courtyard with a horseshoe staircase and double balcony shows. Listed on the supplementary inventory of historic monuments, it has remained a family home.

Vines have always been grown here. Through successive inheritances, the estate passed to the Lansade family, barons of Jonquières. Having no direct heir, they bequeathed the château and its land to the Cabissole family in the early 1970s. François de Cabissole then set about saving the abandoned vineyard: he replanted most of the plots, then started his own winery in 1992.
