Château d'Aumelas
The ruins of the Château d'Aumelas still stand, with fortifications still upright, part of the keep and the old chapel, both Romanesque. The Church of Saint-Sauveur, built later in the 13th century, is still intact. The last part of the footpath up to the castle has recently been laid out as a botanical trail of Mediterranean species.
The Château d'Aumelas is a feudal fortress listed as a historic monument, recorded before 1034. It lies at Aumelas, near Montpellier, in the Hérault.
