Château de Feissons

Savoie, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes

The château de Feissons, or Feissons-sous-Briançon, is an old thirteenth-century fortified house, centre of the lordship of Feissons, raised to a county in 1680. Its remains stand in the commune of Feissons-sur-Isère, in Savoie. The château is part manor and part fortress: it was defended by a ditch 12 metres wide and had a keep and a lower court.

Built in the twelfth century as a fortress, it was turned in the late twentieth century into a charming restaurant. This conversion lets visitors discover a medieval site in the atmosphere of a house of character, with the Isère valley at its feet.
