Château de Coubertin
The Coubertin estate, in the Yvelines, was bought in 1577 by Jean Frédy, a Paris merchant burgher, who had the château built for Bernard Frédy. The interior was fitted out in the 18th century, and alterations were made in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
The dates carved on the pediment of the central projection, 1696-1896, suggest that this decoration was added later. The date 1896 is that of the first modern Olympic Games, created thanks to Pierre de Coubertin.
