Château du Haut-Buc
The Château du Haut-Buc, in the Yvelines, was first built around 1690, alongside those of Le Désert and L'Étoile, at the instigation of Louis XIV for the children of Madame de Montespan. All three were demolished in the 18th century, and the Carrefour de l'Étoile, in the Bois des Gonards at Buc, is the only reminder of the château of that name.
The Château du Haut-Buc was rebuilt in 1864 as a very classical two-storey building topped by an attic. Although it looks like dressed stone, it is in fact built of millstone covered with a false-stone render.
