A bastion of the Bourbonnais, the town was once protected by a double rampart. The outer wall has disappeared; of the inner wall only the Porte de l'Horloge, the Porte d'Orient, two towers and sixty metres of wall remain. Despite the restoration of many buildings, an atmosphere of abandonment reigns in the village that is not without charm. You should discover the twelfth-century church with its curious truncated bell tower; the belfry is right next to it, as well as a fine house with its overhanging upper floor. You should also stroll Rue de l'Horloge, then take Rue de la Poulaillerie, very picturesque with its old paving and central gutter. At random during the visit, the visitor will also discover an old well, fine medieval dwellings, etc.: from the belvedere, the view over the Massif Central and the various valleys is sublime.
