Paléopolis
Paléopolis, nicknamed the dinosaur hill, is a leisure park devoted to palaeontology at Gannat, in the Allier. It grew from the discovery in 1993 of the skeleton of a hornless rhinoceros, Diaceratherium lemanense, about twenty-three million years old, at the Mont Libre site.
Opened on 27 March 2013, the park covers five hectares. It has a 600 m² permanent exhibition on the history of life on Earth, temporary exhibitions, a mineral exhibition, workshops, a reconstructed excavation site and more than two hundred fossils from the Bourbonnais. There are also arcade games, virtual reality headsets, escape games, a 4D cartoon and a nature trail. Owned by the Allier département, it attracted about 56,000 visitors in 2025.
