Musée de l'Opéra de Vichy
The Musée de l'Opéra de Vichy is a unique institution in France that preserves and displays the archives of the Vichy Opera. Its collection is one of the largest in Europe, reflecting the exceptional artistic life of the town that was the 'summer capital of music'.
Founded in 1987 by Josette Alviset, the collection brings together programmes, posters, newspapers, plans, set models, photographs, books, sound recordings and administrative archives, 50 pieces of furniture, 20 sets and props, 1,000 flat and three-dimensional set models, 100 costumes and costume accessories, 50 audio cassettes and 200 records relating to the artistic life of the Grand Casino de Vichy from 1901 to the present day.
