Cascade du lac d'Espingo
Lac d'Oô lies at 1,507 m altitude, in the Pyrenees, near Bagnères-de-Luchon, in Haute-Garonne, in the commune of Oô and its summer pasture. It covers about 42 hectares with a depth of about 67 to 70 m depending on sources. A waterfall about 275 m high, one of the site's main attractions, drops into the lake.
The GR 10 path starts from the Granges d'Astau, at 1,139 m, and leads to the lake in about an hour, or two hours round trip. It then continues towards the Espingo lakes, near the staffed Espingo refuge, from where the torrent that feeds the waterfall comes. In summer, a shuttle serves the start from Luchon. The climb is fairly easy and offers a fine high-mountain panorama.
