Cascade et gouffre d'enfer

Haute-Garonne, Occitanie

The Cascade d'Enfer lies in the Cirque du Lys, at the head of the Lys valley above Bagnères-de-Luchon, in the central Pyrenees. It sits at about 1,576 metres, while the valley begins at 1,104 metres.

The site offers a wide panorama of the highest peaks in the range: beyond the waterfall opens the Cirque des Crabioules, overlooked by the Mail-Barrat (3,060 m), the Tusse du Maupas (3,110 m) and the peaks of Quairat (3,058 m) and Lézat (3,099 m). A little walking effort is enough to enjoy it.

In winter, the waterfall is almost entirely frozen.
