Cascade de Juzet-de-Luchon

Haute-Garonne, Occitanie

The Juzet-de-Luchon waterfall is at the start of the path up to the Hayroles barns, above the village of Juzet, in the Luchon valley, in the Haute-Garonne. Easy to reach from the town hall square, it is a pretty natural site often used as a break before or after a hike.

Its long, drawn-out fall has earned it the nickname 'horse's tail'. Fed by snowmelt, the water is most abundant in spring and early summer, and its roar can be heard from some houses in the village.

The site was already known in the 19th century: photographers captured it in the 1860s, and their pictures are kept in several museum collections.
