Cascade de la Culaz

Ain, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes

The Culaz waterfall is in the commune of Cerdon, in the Ain, about an hour's drive from Lyon. It is one of the highest falls in the area, although estimates of its height vary between sources.

Its flow depends clearly on the season: spectacular in wet weather, it weakens as soon as drought sets in, so it is best visited after rain.

The site is accessible all year, free of charge, with parking nearby. From the centre of Cerdon, a walk of about fifteen minutes along a small road starting from the Rue de Balme leads to a viewpoint near the foot of the fall. It also features on several hiking loops around Cerdon, a village known for its vineyards.
