Vulcania

Puy-de-Dôme, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes

Vulcania is a scientific exploration park devoted to volcanoes and Earth sciences. It is about fifteen kilometres from Clermont-Ferrand, in the Puy-de-Dôme, in the heart of the Volcans d'Auvergne regional nature park.

The visitor is in turn spectator and actor: you discover the dynamics of the planet, the different forms of volcanism and the phenomena that accompany it. The park offers dynamic attractions, large-format films, exhibitions, shows and a planetarium. You also follow the work of volcanologists in the field and in the laboratory.

For its 25th season in 2026, Vulcania opened a new volcanic attraction inspired by Hawaii, a night show with pyrotechnic effects and a renewed planetarium programme. The park, which welcomed more than 390,000 visitors in 2025, is for families, school groups and the science-curious. Its opening is seasonal, from late March to All Saints' Day.
